Detention Nation Virtual Panel Discussion 2
Saturday, April 24, 2021
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
The Sin Huellas Artist Collective and the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies, University of Houston present Detention Nation alongside the Hostile Terrain 94 Installation and two Virtual Panel Discussions.
Panel Discussion 2 - From Migrant Struggle to Mass Resistance: Emergent Practices in Uncertain Times
Detention Nation’s second panel will be streamed via Sin Huellas Artist Collective YouTube Channel. The panel examines our current pandemic and how families have faced additional threats to their existence inside immigrant detention. As cities and states in the US halted the production of goods and services, the immigrant detention industry ramped up mechanisms for mass deportation. This discussion brings together organizers and former detainees who have worked together to build solidarity and work towards freedom.
