Private Concert by Sergei Leiferkus

Join the McGovern College of the Arts and the Moores School of Music for a special, intimate recital of music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, by one of the great bass-baritones of the 20th century, Sergei Leiferkus, accompanied by Moores Opera Center Music Director Keith Chambers.

Cocktails at 6pm, Concert at 7pm

 One of the world’s most renowned performing artists, Leningrad native Sergei Leiferkus is hailed internationally for his performances in Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades, Tosca, Otello, Faust, Samson et Delilah, Simon Boccanegra, Carmen, and many others, all at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Kirov Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera at Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Colón, La Scala, and many more. He has been described by the New York Times as a “canny actor,” “a convincing villain,” “exquisitely despicable,” and a “strong and menacing presence,” all with a “masterful, robust, and resourceful” voice. Leiferkus last appeared at the Moores School of Music in 2000.
