Important Information

The vision of University of Houston Student Housing & Residential Life includes providing a safe and healthy campus community for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. There are many steps residents can take to help prepare for a variety of emergencies, beginning with the following information and links.

  • Personal Emergency Plans

    Preparation Basics for some of the emergency types a student can encounter (but are not limited to), i.e. Severe weather, Power or water outages, HVAC failures, building fires or structure damage, or an Illness or injury, especially when you may need assistance taking care of yourself.

  • Stay Informed

    Check local news sources for weather and roadway information often. Avoid driving and check roadways before traveling.

  • Communication

    Visit our weather communications page for the latest information.

  • Check UH Alerts

    The University of Houston will update this site when new information is available.

  • Update Your Information

    Update your UHAlert contact information in order to receive emergency messages on your personal devices.

    Knowing how to respond during an emergency is crucial to your personal safety and the well being of those around you. Click here to explore information for specific hazards.

  • In-Hall Contacts

    Residents should go to the front desk of their hall if they have questions. If there is not a person at the desk, look for an “on-call” phone number posted on the desk.
