Community Mentor
A Community Mentor (CM) is a student staff member who under the supervision of a Residential Life Coordinator (RLC), serves as a peer mentor to provide advocacy, intervention, mentorship and support to residential students who need assistance in achieving student success. The CM position is also responsible for advising the Hall Council on their community. There is one CM assigned to Cougar Place and University Lofts. There are two CMs assigned to Cougar Village I, Cougar Village II, Moody Towers and The Quad.

CM Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at time of application.
- Undergraduates must stay enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 18 credits.
- Graduates must stay enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits and a maximum of 12 credits.
- Must have a minimum 3.0 semester and cumulative GPA at the time of application and appointment. CMs must maintain a 3.0 GPA each semester for continued employment.
- Remain in good standing with Student Housing & Residential Life (SHRL) and the University of Houston (UH) academically, financially and in student conduct.
- One year of experience as a Resident Advisor.
CM Position Requirements:
- Commit to serving in the position for the full academic year, fall 2025 to spring 2026 (December graduates are ineligible to apply).
- Sign an on-campus Housing Agreement ($99 agreement fee before August 2025 start date).
- Understand and agree that CMs cannot hold any additional paid on-campus position or paid leadership role with UH while employed as an CM.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. throughout the fall and spring semesters.
- Attend mandatory training Aug. 8-22, 2025, and Jan. 9-16, 2026
