EFM Lab Group (2022)

Dr. Mostafa Momen

Principal Investigator

Dr. Momen did his PhD at Princeton University where he studied the thermo-fluid dynamics of atmospheric flows with a focus on the investigation and analytical modeling of four inherent complexities of atmospheric boundary layers that have been largely overlooked. In addition to his Ph.D. thesis, he worked on a reservoir drainage problem, which has many applications such as in spillway breakage and hydraulics engineering (see Momen et al 2017 - JFM). For his postdoc at Stanford, he worked on hydrologic cycle, ecohydrology, and remote sensing with a focus on the effect of water availability on vegetation dynamics (Momen et al 2017 - JGR). He is currently working on simulating the turbulence statistics of the hurricane boundary layer and its impacts on humans as well as wind-energy integration and coastal resilliency problems.
