September 7, 2017 Memo from Dean McPherson

Sept. 7, 2017

Message from College of Education Dean Bob McPherson

I want you to know that our faculty and staff are here to support you as classes resume this week following the devastation of Harvey. We understand that you and your family may have suffered considerably, and we hope to make the transition to our new normal as smooth as possible. Seeing so many Coogs helping each other and the greater Houston community gives me confidence we will recover together.

If circumstances prevent you from making it back to campus, please contact your individual professors. I have asked our professors to be accommodating and creative in finding workable solutions that allow the learning and recovery process to co-exist. If you have an issue that you’re struggling to resolve, you may email coedean@uh.edu. Please check your email for a link to a survey to submit your needs or your willingness to help.

COUNSELING

As a psychologist whose home has flooded for a second time, I understand the physical and emotional toll this storm has taken. Please do not hesitate to ask for help. To contact UH Counseling and Psychological Services, call 713-743-5454.

FINANCIAL AID

If you need additional time to pay your tuition, you can send an email to enrollmentservices@uh.edu. If you have not yet applied for financial aid for the fall semester, it is not too late. Go to https://fafsa.ed.gov/ to complete the application. You also can apply for emergency aid and financial aid reconsideration through UH.

At its essence, the UH College of Education is a community of dedicated and compassionate helpers. You are the Pride

Dean Bob McPherson
