    Student Health Center Open House featuring FREE Flu Shots, Health Building 2, Room 2005
    What better way to keep your student healthy and successful this academic year than to get them vaccinated against influenza. Free flu shots will be available to UH students (18 and older) by appointment at the University of Houston Student Health Center. Schedule your appointment through the Healthy Coog Patient Portal. Picture ID required at check-in. Find out more about services we offer: Primary Care, Men’s and Women’s Health, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Immunizations, Lab and Pharmacy Services. Students enrolled in the UH endorsed Student Health Insurance Plan may receive the flu shot with no out-of-pocket cost.

    The college experience is fun but also a stressful time for both students and family. This workshop explores ways to manage the necessary balance between supporting your student while providing the independence that is critical for their success in college. If you are unsure how to support your student because either you didn’t attend college or this is the first of your children to attend college then this session will be of great support to you.     The UH LGBTQ Resource Center and Women and Gender Resource Center (WGRC) invites families and students to the centers to meet the staff, visit the space, and learn about our resources and services related to gender equity, gender diversity, LGBTQIA+ student support, and more. We will have light refreshments, activities, and prizes.

A multitude of activities will be going on so pick and choose what you and your family would like to participate in or just sit back and relax over good conversation and food. Campus Recreation and Wellness Center

Parents and families are invited to utilize our state-of-the-art recreation center. Stop by 4500 University Drive to participate in one of our premier group fitness classes, play a game of badminton or racquetball and enjoy many of our other amenities.

Add a challenge to your Family Weekend and enjoy an afternoon of fun on our 53ft. climbing wall! Parents, students, siblings, and friends are all invited to test their climbing skills. Never climbed? Don’t worry- our experienced staff will teach you everything you need to know.

Even though it’s September, Houston can still be HOT! If your family needs to cool off, take some time to enjoy our beautiful outdoor leisure pool complete with slides, and a waterfall. A perfect time for the younger siblings who may just want to have some fun in the sun. Lifeguards will be on duty, children under the age of 18 must have a parent present. Sponsored by Campus Recreation.

Blaffer Museum

Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston welcomes the UH community. Hours are Tuesday-Friday (10-5) and Saturday and Sunday (12-5)pm. The museum is free. Currently on view Blaffer Art Museum Exhibitions: Jamal Cyrus: The End of My Beginning (through September 26), Martine Gutierrez: Radiant cut (through October 24), and Jagdeep Raina: Bonds (through October 24). Library Exhibit: “100 Years of Progress: The Fight Marches On
Library Hours: Friday: 8:00 am-10:00 pm; Saturday: 10:00 am-6:00 pm; Sunday: 10:00 am-12:00 am

The M.D. Anderson Library currently presents an exhibition 100 Years of Progress: The Fight Marches Onon its first-floor display area. The exhibition, through graphical art, maps, and bulletins, encapsulates how the idea of women’s suffrage would take hold and transform into reality, mobilizing millions of women to strive for equality in all aspects of American life. Materials on display comprise documents and ephemera from the suffrage collections in the Carey Shuart Women’s Archive and Research Collection held at the University of Houston Libraries Department of Special Collections and Archives.
