2022 MMI Teaching Prize for Innovative Uses of Media

To acknowledge faculty and instructor adaptations and innovations to the new era of remote, socially distanced and HyFlex learning, the CLASS Media and Moving Image Initiative and the McGovern College of the Arts will award instructional design and teaching prizes for media-related teaching adaptations and innovations.

Eligibility

Faculty and instructors in CLASS and the McGovern College of the Arts offering a course in Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Summer 2021 or Fall 2021.

(Winners of last year’s inaugural teaching prize are ineligible.)

Prize

One prize per college in each of the following categories:

$2000 Full-time faculty, tenured and tenure track

$2000 Full-time faculty, non-tenure track

$1000 Part-time instructors

$1000 Graduate teaching fellow

Application

By January 4, 2022, submit to mmi@uh.edu a single aggregate PDF containing:

  1. Cover Sheet
  2. Letter of application (max 3 pages): including
    1. 1000-word description of applicant’s teaching challenge and solution
    2. relevant access links, permissions and passwords for Blackboard, Flipgrid, Teams, or other related media documenting course content, experience, and evidence of effectiveness
  3. Supporting documents (max 5 pages), including
    1. student evaluations (required)
    2. letters of recommendation (optional)
      1. please note that while applicants should feel free to submit more than one student letter, the jury will not consider more than one letter from a colleague or chair
