UH undergrad Danny Guevara selected for the prestigious Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships program.

UH undergraduate student Danny Guevara has been selected for the prestigious Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program. He will spend the fall semester conducting research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California.

Danny works in Dr. Christopher Arellano's lab assisting with research projects and helps build and design custom structures for future biomechanics experiments.

HHP dietetic intern Chris Doyle featured on ABC 13 news with tips on staying hydrated at the Houston Marathon.

HHP dietetic intern Chris Doyle's tips on staying hydrated, for what is expected to be a very cold day at the Houston Marathon, were featured in a segment on ABC 13 news. An intern with HHP's Dietetic Internship program, Chris is currently interning at Memorial Hermann Ironman Sports Medicine Institute. Learn more>>

Fatema Shipchandler is selected as a 2018-2019 University of Houston Schweitzer Junior Fellow

The Albert Schweitzer Junior Fellowship is a nine-month mentorship and service program focused on community health and leadership development. Junior Fellows will work with a community partner to identify unmet health care needs in the local community and develop a service project to address those needs. Additionally, Junior Fellows receive a $1,000 grant to fund their service project.

Fatema is conducting her research at the HOUSTON Academy with Dr. Daphne Hernandez.

Destiny Morton Takes part in U.S. Olympic Committee's FLAME Program

Joshua Roberts selected for University of St. Thomas Athletic/Recreational Sports summer internship program

HHP Sport Administration program senior, Joshua Roberts is joining the University of St. Thomas as a part of the UST Athletic/Recreational Sports summer internship program.

"We are very excited to welcome Joshua Roberts to the UST Athletics family. He is our second intern from the University of Houston's Sports Management program. Joshua will be with us throughout the summer and will focus on fall event preparation, our ticket drive, marketing and sponsorships. We appreciate Dr. David Walsh's belief in UST Athletics and it is our goal that our partnership with UH is mutually beneficial," said Athletic Director Todd Smith.

Michelle Constante Selected for Summer Education Research Program at University of Wisconsin, Madison

UH undergrad student Michelle Constante has been selected for the Summer Education Research Program (SERP) at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Michelle works in HHP faculty Dr. Pranav Parikh's lab. During her SERP internship, Michelle will work with Dr. Kristen Pickett who researches Parkinsons' disease and Wolfram syndrome. During the ten-week summer program SERP participants will be guided by a faculty mentor on their chosen research topic, engage in seminars and activities with other students and mentors, and will prepare and present a paper on their research topic at the end of the program. SERP covers participants' room and board and each participant receives a stipend up to $3000.00.

Sawan Dalal Selected For Summer Internship at NASA's Ames Research Center

UH undergrad student Sawan Dalal has been selected for NASA's Space Life Sciences Training Program. Sawan works in HHP faculty Dr. Christopher Arellano's lab. He will spend the summer at NASA's Ames Research Center in San Francisco working on the BioSentinel research project to develop space radiation biosensors through a yeast model. Learn more >>

HHP Doctoral Student Bridgette Rooney Featured by NASA

HHP doctoral student and NASA intern Ms. Bridgette Rooney was recently featured on NASA's website in an article titled, "Bridgette Rooney: The Military, Medicine, and Microbiology". The article profiled Bridgette's journey from the military to medicine to studying exercise immunology at HHP's Laboratory of Integrated Physiology under the guidance of Dr. Richard Simpson. HHP Grad Selected for Australian Women’s National Volleyball Team

HHP grad Sophie Paine has been selected for a place on the Australian Women’s National Volleyball Team, Sophie completed her bachelors degree in Kinesiology this semester. She will begin camp with the Australian women's national volleyball team on May 21, with an eye on qualifying for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
