In order to attain the Graduate Certificate in Sport and Fitness Operations Management, students must complete a total of 12 credit hours.

Course Description
The course will examine the organizational goals, structure, membership, policies, and practices of professional and amateur sports. Emphasis will be placed on The Olympic Movement and the governing bodies of the Olympic Games, the NCAA, North American professional sports, international sports, and disability sports.
Course Objectives
- To understand the historical background and foundation of various sport and sport agencies.
- To study the foundation, functions, and purposes of various agencies of sport.
- To familiar with the financial aspect of various sport organizations.
- To examine the services and practices rendered by the sport agencies.
- To understand pertinent rules/regulations of collegiate sport organizations.
- To have knowledge of the major issues confronting sport governing bodies, and current problem solving efforts to deal with those issues.

Course Description
Media and public relations of sport course addresses both macro- and micro-viewpoints that illuminate the distinct and complex context of sport in which communication is situated. Further, this course highlights the importance of the sport organization, media, and audience interdependent relationships. Students will gain an appreciation through practical application of these relationships. Moreover, students will critically examine, discuss, and apply both practical and theoretical concepts that formulate strategies to be effective actors and leaders in the sport/media/PR industry. This course challenges students to think in-depth and with an interdisciplinary approach that integrates aspects from marketing, sociology, organizational behavior, law, management, communication, journalism, and technology.

Course Description
Sport development is concerned with the creation and management of systems designed to optimize participation in sport, and the movement of athletes both vertically and horizontally through the sport system. The study of sport development draws on research from sport sociology, sport psychology, sport history, leisure studies, human development, and sport management. It has its roots in the applied social sciences. This course explores key topics in the development of sport, including comparative sport development, developing pathways of participation, the design, and evaluation of sport systems, and sport community building, social and individual change.

Course Description
This course will discuss a basic knowledge and understating of the principles, processes, and strategies related to the financial aspects of sport/fitness/recreation organizations. This course introduces various economic and financial issues pertaining to the management and operation of the current sport institutions and organizations including facility operation, taxation, sources of team operation, economic impact analysis, municipal and corporate bonds, financial statements, and other related topics/issues.
Course Objectives
- Discuss the current economic and financial situation in the sport industry.
- Discuss, define, and utilize the basic accounting and various aspects of the budgeting.
- Explain how sport enterprises impact the economy of communities in which they operate.
- Determine and explain traditional and new revenue sources of sport and fitness organizations.
- Explain the sources of public funding for the operation of sport teams and facilities.
- Discuss the different methods of generating revenue through ticket sales, such as differential pricing and flexible ticket packaging.
- Understand core concepts within financial statements utilized by sport organizations.
- Discuss in detail the metaphor implied in economic impacts of sport events.
- Develop potential solutions for improving revenue sources and increasing revenue.
