Sergio Montero
Biography
Sergio Montero is a political economist who studies political markets and the stability of democratic institutions. His research combines theory and data to try to understand what voters want and whether they get it, who becomes a politician and why, strategic behavior by political parties, and what all of this tells us about the health of democratic systems. He teaches courses on quantitative research methods and the political economy of public policy, and his work has been published in leading economics and political science journals, including the American Economic Review, American Journal of Political Science, American Political Science Review, and Journal of Politics. He holds a PhD in Social Science from the California Institute of Technology and previously taught at the University of Rochester.
