Congratulations to the Office of Administration team, including Dr. Emily Messa, CASP, Deborah Huebler, CASP Esmeralda Valdez, and Rosie Ashley for their outstanding honors to be recognized at the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) 2020 Awards in October. After a rigorous nomination and peer review process, these leaders were recently notified by this leading national industry association of their selection for each of the following distinguished awards:
Associate Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice President of Administration, Dr. Emily A Messa, CASP, received the NACAS Wright Lassiter Jr. Legacy Award. Named after the first president of NACAS, this honor is awarded to an auxiliary service professional that demonstrates leadership qualities and a strong commitment to volunteerism and community service.
Deborah Huebler, CASP executive director of Auxiliary Services, received the NACAS 2020 National Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognizes members who have demonstrated exceptional volunteer work at the regional and/or national level that supports the association’s organizational mission. “There are so many dedicated volunteers for NACAS, so I feel a bit undeserving,” stated Huebler. “But I am incredibly honored and profoundly touched to have been bestowed this award. It has been my privilege to serve an organization that has provided both personal and professional benefits to me.”
Deborah has exemplified an exceptional work ethic. Her efforts to improve NACAS through service have been beyond the call of duty.
Esmeralda Valdez, executive director of University Services, was awarded the NACAS 2020 South Regional Mentor Award and the David H. Lord Scholarship for Community Service Award in recognition of her efforts to welcome newcomers and encourage their involvement at the national level and for her active role in our community through service and active citizenship.
Rosie Ashley, program director of auxiliary services, received the NACAS South Rising Star award, which recognizes an individual in an auxiliary service unit who provides excellent services and demonstrates the desire to excel in the field of auxiliary services management. This honor is bestowed upon one NACAS member, as it is the only award of its kind to be given out throughout the 12-state region.
“I am thrilled to be the recipient of the NACAS South Rising Star Award,” said Ashley. “The nomination for this award is an honor in itself because it shows that our senior leaders recognize my contributions to our institution and see my potential to excel in auxiliary services management.”
