Cannabis Screening and Intervention for College Students (CASICS)

CASICS is a nationally recognized and evidence-based program designed to reduce risky behavior and avoid harmful consequences regarding cannabis use. The CASICS program is open to all students, but is primarily used as an educational sanction in the conduct process.

By engaging in CASICS, participants will be able to:

  • Reflect and discuss their cannabis behavior with a facilitator in a non-judgmental environment.
  • Formulate goals to help reduce cannabis habit in 1-2 months after initial meeting.

If you are sanctioned or interested in this program, the following steps will occur:

  1. Contact Brittani Clarkson, Assistant Director of Wellness Programs, to notify that you need to take CASICS.
  2. Ensure you have the following information for registration:
    • Drivers' license number
    • Judge's name
    • University representative, if applicable
  3. Pay the non-refundable registration fee of $30.
    • You must pay with check or money order only. No other forms of payment are accepted.
  4. You will be assigned a faculty or staff facilitator who will work with you to schedule a time to meet.
  5. All meetings will start with an online survey that should take up to 30 minutes to complete.
  6. Once completed, the participant will meet with the facilitator to go over their individualized results.
  7. A follow-up meeting will occur one month after the initial meeting. This will be scheduled with your facilitator.
