New Year's Day

The first day of the year on the Gregorian calendar. New Year's Day is typically celebrated with fireworks at the stroke of midnight as the new year starts in each time zone. Common traditions include making New Year's resolutions as well as contacting family and friends.
Kwanzaa Ends
  • Location: Worldwide
A week-long annual celebration of African-American culture that is based on harvest festival traditions from various parts of Africa. Traditions include celebration of seven principles of African Heritage and a communal feast, called Karamu, on the sixth day of observance.

Myanmar Independence Day

A national holiday in Myanmar that celebrates Myanmar's Declaration of Independence from the British rule in 1948.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, come join the Young Adult Advisory Council. The Young Adult Advisory Council meets the 2nd Thursday of the school year.

Lunar New Year Festival
  • Time: 12:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
  • Location: POST Houston 401 Franklin Street Houston, TX 77002
POST is celebrating the Lunar New Year which welcomes the Year of the Rabbit (Year of the Cat in the Vietnamese Zodiac). The celebration, which brings back Lunar New Year festivities to downtown, is hosted by the Ho Family of the House of Ho on HBO Max and powered by the sustainable electricity provider Rhythm Energy.

An international memorial day established by the United Nations that commemorates the victims of the Holocaust.
