Student Coogs Ready for Music, Merriment, More at Frontier Fiesta 2010

This weekend, University of Houston students have yet another reason to celebrate their status as Cougars.

Frontier Fiesta returns March 25 - 27 in the parking lot of UH's Robertson Stadium with live music, carnival rides, cook-offs and Broadway-style student performances. This free event is produced by UH students and open to the Houston community.

A tradition since the 1940s, Frontier Fiesta was labeled "The Greatest College Show on Earth" by Life magazine. Since its inception, the western-themed festival showcases the talent and diversity that define Cougar culture.

Adding to the Texas flavor of the event is Fiesta City, a replica of a 19th century cow town that serves as home base for all Frontier Fiesta activities.

Highlights of Frontier Fiesta 2010 include:

  • Battle of the Bands - 7 p.m., March 25
  • Hip-Hop Night featuring Clipse - 7 p.m., March 26
  • Mark McKinney in concert - 10:30 p.m., March 27
