Shannon has more than a decade of experience in student development and program management. As Director of Service Learning, she leads a team that recruits and trains students, as well as assesses and continuously improves program operations. She also oversees community partner development and service-learning projects. 


Adrian F. Castillo

As program coordinator, Adrian has the responsibility of overseeing daily operations of the Bonner Leaders program and its projects. He is an advisor to the Senior Interns, Bonner Leadership Council, and project leads. Adrian has years of experience in student leadership, serving as communication coordinator in the UH Division of Student Affairs prior to joining the Honors College.

Founding Director

Andrew Hamilton, Ph.D.

The Bonner program at the University of Houston was founded by Andrew Hamilton, Ph.D. He is the Associate Dean for Student Success in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at UH, and a former professor and Director of Biology Graduate Programs at Arizona State University. He is a lifelong advocate for the power and effectiveness of service learning. Under his leadership, the Bonner program was awarded the UH System Regents’ Award for Academic Excellence in February of 2016.
