How long does the Research Congruency Review take?

Research Congruency Review Timeline

This is an example of the grant submission process timeline and how Research Congruency can fit in.

After the PI submits their grant in February, it will be assigned for peer review in June.  When the grant is assigned a Priority Score, or if there is communication from the Program Officer of the likeliness that the grant would be funded, the PI should reach out to the Research Congruency group at grc@central.uh.edu with the full proposal that was submitted and request the Research Congruency Review.  Simultaneously, the PI should be submitting or updating the corresponding IRB or IACUC protocol(s).  The Research Congruency Review can be performed alongside the review of the protocol in its designated committee.  When the Notice of Award (NoA) is received in October, ideally, all approvals and the Research Congruency Review will have been completed, and the award is able to be disbursed immediately.

This also works for Just-In-Time (JIT) notifications.  When a JIT notification is received, please contact the Research Congruency Review group at grc@central.uh.edu with the full proposal and the associated protocol numbers.
