Go Texan Day at UH

February 19, 2019

Howdy, Y’all –

Each year, the city celebrates its Western heritage with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo – and the University of Houston likes to join in the festivities.

We’ll observe “Go Texan Day” Friday, Feb. 22, and you’re encouraged to wear cowboy clothes.  Since that’s a “Cougar Red Friday,” I trust part of your outfit will be in the appropriate color.  We’ll also be taking part in the Downtown Parade Saturday, Feb. 23, with a UH/UH Alumni Association float.  On Friday, March 8, it will be “UH Night at the Rodeo.”  I’ll be riding a horse in the Grand Entry Parade, and I hope a lot of Cougars are there to whoop it up.

We owe the rodeo a good deal for the numerous scholarships they provide our students and for keeping an important part of our culture alive.  So, let’s get ready to rodeo.

With warm regards,

Renu Khator
