Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, are regulated by the FAA and by federal, state, and local laws. Anyone wishing to operate a UAS on any UH System property, at any System-sponsored event or activity, or use a UAS acquired with System resources must receive advance approval in accordance with the SAM 01.F.02. Individuals who are approved to operate on campus are personally responsible for complying with FAA regulations, applicable state and local law, and System and university policy. All UAS requests will be reviewed and assessed on a per case basis.

Requests

Submit a Request/UAS Application to the UAS team at drones@central.uh.edu a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the intended operation, and provide all the requested information. Requests that are more complex should be submitted at least two (2) weeks in advance.

UH Home Football Games = NO DRONE ZONE

As a reminder, UH System policy prohibits the use of drones on campus on game days unless the operator has first obtained both an FAA waiver and University approval.

Federal law prohibits drones from operating in and above and within a 3-mile radius of TDECU stadium starting one hour before and ending one hour after the scheduled game time.
