Copeland Named Science Editor of GSA Today

Peter Copeland

Peter Copeland, a professor of geology in the University of Houston’s Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, was named science editor of GSA Today, a publication of the Geological Society of America. GSA Today provides news and information to the organization’s 26,000 member readers and subscribing libraries. The magazine features a peer-reviewed science article each month, plus recurring feature sections.

Copeland is the author of Communicating Rocks: Writing, Speaking, and Thinking about Geology (2012, Pearson). From 2001-2004, he was the co-editor of the Geological Society of America Bulletin.

His research focuses primarily on thermochronology and its application to continental tectonics.
