The election of Donald Trump has raised fundamental questions about how the United States will govern itself, including whether policy will empower individuals on personal issues including health care, education and business.

John Allison, former CEO of BB&T and executive in residence at the Wake Forest University School of Business, will discuss some of those issues Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the University of Houston. The talk is part of the UH Hobby School of Public Affairs’ BB&T Speaker Series in Political Economy, Free Markets and Free Societies.

Allison is also former president and CEO of the Cato Institute, where he remains on the board of directors.

His talk, set for 1 p.m., will explore the historic tensions between elites and non-elites and what that means for crafting public policy.
