Dedicated to the innovative performance of contemporary chamber music, AURA utilizes theatrical lighting, projections and electronics in their concerts and frequently collaborates with actors, authors, dancers and visual artists. Performers are selected in April for the following academic year and admission is by audition. Interested students should contact the director, Rob Smith, for audition information.

The band program includes the Cougar Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Cougar Brass.  Membership in all ensembles is open to all UH students.  Auditions are held for all performing groups except the marching band and concert band.  The band department has financial aid grants available to qualifying members regardless of major.

We infuse the importance of musical collaboration throughout students' education by offering a D.M.A. in piano performance with an emphasis in keyboard collaborative arts, and courses in the Bachelors and Masters programs. We produce graduates who are equipped to excel in solo performance and collaborative work, as well as trained to teach these concepts to students of all levels.

The Moores School offers singers many opportunities to perform in mixed, men's, and women's choirs.  The choral program includes the Concert Chorale, Concert Women's Chorus, ManCorps, ManChoir, and the University Women's Chorus.  Membership in all ensembles is open to all UH students.  Auditions are held for admission to Concert Chorale, Concert Women's Chorus, and ManCorps.  Other performing groups only require a private audition for placement within the ensemble. 

The Moores School of Music offers a nationally-recognized jazz program under Professor Noe Marmolejo.  The jazz orchestra and jazz ensemble are open to all UH students by audition.

Moores Opera Center is a nationally-recognized opera training program led by founder and Artistic Director Buck Ross. Students have the opportunity to learn their craft through four fully-staged productions with orchestra per year, including one new opera each season that was written in the last twenty years. Auditions are heard in April and August of each year and are open to all students.

The Moores School Symphony Orchestra is open to all UH students.  Admission is by audition.  Performance opportunities include the symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, opera orchestra, and ballet orchestra.

The Moores School Percussion Ensembles are an integral component of our multidimensional, comprehensive percussion training. These vibrant and exciting ensembles perform classically-oriented works composed expressly for percussion and scored for four to 13 (or more!) percussionists. They are important both in the opportunities they provide for effective teaching and in their purely artistic potential.
