Lauren Moya Ford, MFA Painting 2014

While in the UH School of Art MFA program Lauren Moya Ford worked actively as an artist, blogger, and contributor to online arts publication glasstire.com, for which she authored the series Exploring Latino Identities.

Ms. Ford is interested in the implications of merging text and image-making, exploring the interplay between expectations and incongruities that come from the experience of written material compared to purely visual material. Humor, memory, and semantics inform her suites of drawings and paintings that flit between ambiguity and transparency.

Since completing her MFA work Ms. Ford has begun traveling and continues to make her work wherever she is. She currently has a video installation on view at the Fort Worth Contemporary Arts Gallery and she is now an applicant for a Fulbright Fellowship to Mexico to study the botanical photographs of Dr. José Vázquez.

Jeremy DePrez, MFA Painting 2011

Since completing his graduate work in the UH School of Art, Jeremy DePrez has had a very strong start to what promises to be a significant career. In just a little over three years he has mounted exhibitions at the venerable Texas Gallery in Houston and the esteemed Zach Feuer Gallery in New York. He was also included in the important survey exhibition The Shaped Canvas, Revisited at Luxembourg & Dayan in New York, and has had his work shown at both the Los Angeles Art Fair and Art Basel-Miami. Jeremy DePrez’s paintings are being seen, appreciated, and collected, and his contribution is fast becoming part of the international art consciousness.

UH Alum Susan Sutton Curates Ground-Breaking Fashion Show at Menil

UH School of Art Alum Susan Sutton (BA, Art History) is chief curator for an important exhibition of the work of fashion icon Charles James at the Menil Collection. Ms. Sutton will be speaking on the curatorial challenges surrounding the display of fashion on Sep. 5 at 6pm in FA 110, during the "Resolution" festivities at the School of Art. Read more
