Houston Public Media’s Ernie Manouse visited Blaffer Art Museum to learn more about the Alfred Leslie exhibition on view through January 26, 2019. Tyler Blackwell, Blaffer’s curatorial fellow, discussed Leslie’s career evolution from abstract expressionism to digital portraits.
“Alfred Leslie: One Hundred Characters in Search of a Reader” features a variety of literary characters ranging from the well-known to the obscure. Viewers will find Leslie’s interpretations of Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita, Cormac McCarthy’s Anton Chigurh and the titular characters from Booth Tarkington’s “The Magnificent Ambersons.”
