Gavin Reed

Affiliate Artist in French Horn

Gavin Reed (French Horn) is a sought-after freelance artist in the Houston area. In 2005, he began appearing with all of the major orchestral ensembles in Houston including Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, and Houston Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and its offshoot, the ROCO Brass Quintet. He has appeared with the orchestras of Tallahassee, San Antonio, Jacksonville, North Carolina (Raleigh) and Milwaukee. In 2008, he appeared with Canadian Brass for its Legends tour. In recent summers, he has performed with the Grant Park Music Festival and Grand Teton Music Festival. Through ROCO's "Unchambered" series, he has performed Dohnanyi's Sextet, Ligeti's Six Bagatelles and Schubert's Octet. As a guest artist of Musiqa, he will perform Harbison's Twilight Music and the premiere of Marcus Maroney's Trio for horn, violin and piano. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University where he was a student of Michelle Stebleton (2002). His Master's Degree is from Northwestern University where he studied with Gail Williams and William Barnewitz (2005).
