About AI Solutions
The University of Houston (UH) AI Solutions will be the catalyst for the strategic and responsible use of artificial intelligence across the organization. UH is committed to fostering a culture of innovation, pragmatism, and service while ensuring utmost security and privacy.
AI Solutions will be the primary body of AI specialists and analysts, from all fields and service roles, who will enable institutional stakeholders to improve their business using AI. The AI Solutions engagement model will work with our stakeholder groups to optimize the impact of AI at the University, both pushing information and pulling new ideas forward.
AI Solutions will promote AI literacy, consult, facilitate, collaborate, lead in the development of policies and best practices, and provision AI technologies “as a service” to the broader organization. In this way, AI Solutions will enable units to deliver value through the use of Artificial Intelligence to our 4 targeted constituency groups: students, faculty, staff, and our research departments.

Shasta is a generative AI chatbot built on Ivy.ai’s advanced Ivy Quantum platform. Designed to enhance user support, Shasta provides instant, accurate answers by accessing a curated knowledge base tailored to the department’s needs. Available 24/7, it helps reduce call volume and streamline communication, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors.

Microsoft Copilot
Copilot for Microsoft 365 is an AI-powered assistant that integrates with Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. It provides real-time support to enhance creativity, productivity, and skills.
Faculty and staff may purchase annual Copilot licenses by contacting software@uh.edu.

Consultation and Training Services
AI Solutions consulting services consists of strategic guidance on how to integrate AI into teaching, research, and administrative operations. We work closely with UH leadership and functional teams to ensure our recommendations align with academic goals and operational needs. We also provide training to help faculty, staff, and students develop AI literacy, advise how to integrate AI tools effectively, and promote responsible use.
