Dr. Amber Thompson

Amber Thompson, Ed.D., is a clinical professor at the University of Houston in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, and has been on faculty since 2011. Thompson serves as the associate chair for teacher education and is the executive director of the Houston Area Teacher Center. She teaches undergraduate courses in elementary science methods as well as courses that focus on practicum field experiences and clinical teaching.

Thompson also serves as a curriculum design coach for the US PREP National Center where she supports curriculum redesign for science teacher educators across the nation. Additionally, she serves as one of the UH coalition co-leads in the Raise Your Hand Texas Raising Texas Teachers Networked Improvement Community.

Shea Culpepper

Dr. Shea Culpepper

Shea Culpepper, Ph.D., is a clinical professor and director of the teacher education program at the University of Houston College of Education. She taught third grade in Fort Bend ISD and later fifth grade in Philadelphia while pursuing her Ph.D. focused on mathematics education from the University of Pennsylvania. For the last 15 years, she’s worked at UH, dedicating her career to preparing the next generation of teachers. Her children attended public schools, and she’s passionate about every child having access to well-prepared teachers.
