Katy Kaesebier joins the Center for Student Involvement
Katy Kaesebier joined the Center for Student Involvement on April 25, 2016 as The Associate Director of Leadership and Civic Engagement. The Center for Student Involvement offers resources and support for all registered student organizations, leadership development programs, civic engagement and service opportunities, and direct advising of fee-funded organizations for events and traditions. With the breadth and depth of involvement opportunities provided to students, CSI strives to provide effective processes, opportunities for learning, and one on one support for students to lead and govern their organizations successfully. The Center for Student Involvement creates an inclusive and accessible environment and provides meaningful and diverse learning opportunities to impact student success. Through their involvement, students will gain a sense of self and strong interpersonal skills, while becoming responsible and engaged citizens in their community.
As the Associate Director, Katy provides oversight and direction of the strategic planning, program management, and leadership for volunteer service program, civic engagement activities, and leadership development programs. She develops and sustains campus and community partners to develop comprehensive programming in these areas. Based on best practice, a few of the signature programs Katy will oversee are LeadUH, Ignite Leadership Program, Days of Service, and Alternative Service Breaks. Katy also directly advises the Metropolitan Volunteer Program that creates and provides service opportunities for students by collaborating with campus and community partners, developing responsible citizens.
Katy has earned her Bachelor of Arts from Butler University. She then earned her Master Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University. Over her career, Katy has worked with AmeriCorps*Vista through Indian Campus Compact, Break Away: The Alternative Break Connection, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Georgia Southern University. In these positions, she has coordinated many large-scale service events, taught leadership courses, lead the expansion of Alternative Breaks programs and directly advised a service scholarship program. Her experience with leadership and student development and expertise in civic engagement and service will prove to be valuable to the Center for Student Involvement team.
“Katy will be a great asset to the growth and development of the leadership and civic engagement areas of the department. Her expertise, coupled with her personable demeanor, will bring a level of engagement directly in line with the department’s vision for the future.
