UH Next Checklist

Interested in transferring into the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences but not sure where to start? Use this checklist to start your journey through UH Next.
Getting Started with UH Next
- Start by exploring bachelor's degrees within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston.
- UH Next is only available for select majors within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences for each partner community college.
- If you do not see your intended major on the list or are not attending one of our partner institutions, please visit UH Transfer Students to explore other pathways into UH.
- Our current UH Next partner community colleges are:
- Alvin Community College
- College of the Mainland
- Houston City College (formerly, Houston Community College)
- San Jacinto College
- Wharton County Junior College
- Declare either an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science program at the community college to start making progress towards an eligible UH bachelor's degree.
- Sign up for UH Next using our online form.
- You will have the opportunity to meet with a UH Next advisor to discuss your educational goals after signing up.
- Note: Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for UH Next when beginning their community college career but are eligible anytime before transferring to UH.
- Enroll in classes at your community college based on the UH Next degree map for your intended UH CLASS major. Earn your associate degree while preparing for seamless transfer to UH.
- Meet with your community college advisor each semester to stay on track.
- Before beginning your final semester at your community college, use the Common App or Apply Texas to apply to the University of Houston as a transfer student.
- When completing the application, select your intended CLASS major as your first-choice major and consent to reverse transfer to ensure you earn your associate degree from your community college.
- Submit your official college transcript(s) to the UH undergraduate admissions office.
- Track your application status through your myUH Self-Service account via AccessUH.
- Meet with your community college advisor before applying for graduation to verify that you've satisfied all degree requirements.
- Students who are not on track to earn their associate degree before transferring to UH may be eligible to earn their associate degree through reverse transfer, but they must consent to reverse transfer on their UH application.
- Submit your FAFSA or TASFA application to UH.
- Submit the UH General Scholarship Application.
All newly admitted UH students are required to attend orientation before registering
for classes.
- View your course history through your myUH Self-Service account via AccessUH to verify
that all your college credits have transferred to UH.
- If you believe you are missing credits, contact a UH Next advisor for assistance.
- If you were taking classes at the time that you submitted your official transcript(s) with your application, you may need to submit an updated official transcript showing your final grades in your most recent courses.
You'll be advised by a UH advisor and register for your first semester at UH as part of orientation.
