Unsung Masters Graduate Assistantship

UNSUNG MASTERS CO-EDITOR

This Graduate Assistantship provides an opportunity to work closely with a distinguished author/scholar in an editorial role. The Unsung Masters Series “brings the work of great, out-of-print, little-known writers to new readers.” The Unsung Masters Editor will work with an external co-editor, the series curators, as well as Gulf Coast senior editorial staff, Pleiades staff, and Copper Nickel staff on all aspects of the production of this volume.

Graduate students who hold the position will have the opportunity to do in-depth research into the life and work of a little-known (but excellent) author and will have a co-edited volume to their credit at the end of the year.

Experience in publishing would be useful, especially copy editing, proofreading, rights/reproductions, archival research, and communicating with contributors. Knowledge of design software is strongly recommended but interested candidates may learn as the project progresses. A call for applicants is sent out annually in the spring semester. Interested parties may contact Professor Kevin Prufer to know more.

The position is open to any current PhD or MFA student with a TAship in her/his second year or after in Creative Writing, English Literature, or Rhetoric and Composition. The position comes with a TAship teaching release of one course per semester.
