AAS Minor Selected for 2015 Mellon Summer Academy at the Museum of Fine Arts

aMr. Da’Vonte D. Lyons, African American Studies minor and 2014-2015 UH-Ankh Maat Wedjau Honor Society (Songhai Chapter) President, has been selected as a participant for the 2015 Mellon Summer Academy at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH). 

The Andrew W. Mellon Undergraduate Curatorial Fellowship Program and Summer Academy aim to provide specialized training in the curatorial field for students across the United States from diverse backgrounds.  The Summer Academy is a one-week intensive program (June 1-6, 2015) consisting of behind-the-scenes art museum tours, workshops with art museum professionals, tours of exhibitions with curators, and networking events with art museum professionals.

African American Studies congratulates Mr. Lyons on the receipt of his award and wishes him all the best for a prosperous summer experience!
