I’ve improved my skills in problem-solving, time management, and customer service—all being essential in any career path. This job has absolutely strengthened my resume and better prepared me for the professional world; I would not be who I am today without it.

Supervisor remarks from Khalid Bhatti, Manager, Enterprise Computing:
Brandon joined about a year ago and has been a huge asset — helping us stay fully staffed by coordinating interviews, onboarding, and more. He keeps the team organized with outings, announcements, and meeting minutes. On the technical side, he’s contributed to cleaning up the myUH portal, improving search functionality, and assisting with the Linux 8 upgrades, among other projects.

How long have you been a student employee? 2 years

Why did you decide to become a student employee and choose to work at University Information Technology?
I decided to become a student employee at University Information Technology to take my first step into the tech world. It was a great opportunity that aligns perfectly with my major in Computer Information Systems (CIS).

How has your job had an impact on your college career?
Since being a part of the team, I've gained valuable experience in technical troubleshooting, customer communication, and supporting enterprise-level software. I’ve worked with ticketing systems, learned how to document technical issues clearly, and provided support for network connectivity, user account access, and security-related tasks such as password resets and account verification. In addition, I am able to communicate effectively with customers by asking clarifying questions and explain technical solutions in an easy-to-understand way.

This role has also helped me improve my focus and time management, allowing me to efficiently handle multiple tasks and prioritize customer needs. Why did you decide to become a student employee and choose to work at Enterprise Systems?
I decided to become a student employee because of my desire to work in a setting with other students who share the value of prioritizing academic obligations. Leo Nguyen has been with us for almost a year now. After learning the ropes with PeopleSoft development, he jumped right into enhancing our version control and migration tool (i.e. Phire).
