The University of Houston was in the spotlight at the annual Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) conference. The annual conference is a major tech industry event and training venue attended by more than 14,000 technology professionals and vendors from around the globe. This event is a showcase of HP Enterprise and Aruba Networks technologies and introduces new technological innovations and industry best practices.

UIT was represented at the conference by Assistant Vice President of Tech Services & Support David Johnson, UH IT Director of Networks and Customer Services Rita Barrantes, Network Manager Brandon Stratton, Enterprise Computing Manager Howard Jares, and Network Administrators Ana Spaunhorst, Quinton Williams, Mahesh More, and Arshad Adam.

The conference is also the venue for annual HPE and Aruba certifications. Stratton, Spaunhorst, Williams, Jares, More, and Adams received the Advanced Aruba Network Security course that now prepares them for the upcoming certification in the fall.

Barrantes was a highlighted speaker, sharing the stage at the general session with the Vice President of Hewlett Packett Enterprise, VP of and Head of Infrastructure at TD Bank, and the Chief Technology Officer at Land ‘O Lakes. Rita introduced UH to an audience of over 4000, described the networking needs of a Tier One research University, and outlined our UH information technology strategy.

UIT continues to prioritize professional development and growth opportunities for its staff. By supporting attendance at conferences like HPE Discover, UIT ensures that its team members acquire the necessary certifications and are exposed to new technologies and industry best practices. These conferences provide a unique platform for hands-on experience, allowing staff to engage directly with the latest innovations and solutions in the tech industry.
