Official Logos
As official symbols of the University, these logotypes cannot be manipulated, modified or appended in any way. They may not be placed next to or combined with any other text, image, UH Logo or any other organization’s logo. Spacing and size relationships between the logotype have been carefully established and calibrated so that university identity will remain consistent in all materials. Official logos may not be depicted in any other color than the examples shown here. An official UH logo is required in all communications and materials.
Wordmark
The University of Houston wordmark is the graphic depiction of the name “University of Houston” in a type format. It is a one-of-a-kind signature, which identifies our university and projects our unique identity. An important key to presenting a strong and consistent image is the correct use of the wordmark.

In order to maintain the integrity of the wordmark, please note the required minimum distance allowed around the wordmark is the height of the letter "N" in Houston, as seen in the example.
Interlocking UH
Collegiate logos are a long-standing and well-respected tradition in higher education. Alumni, students, faculty, and staff instantly recognize their university by its logo and often wear it with great pride. The Interlocking UH will most often be seen as a mark among the “Cougar Family” and supports school spirit in current students, alumni, and sports.
There are two versions of the interlocking UH available depending on its usage, academic or athletic.
Academic Interlocking UH
The Academic interlocking UH can be used for most purposes with prior approval.
Logo Spacing
In order to maintain the integrity of the interlocking UH, please note the required minimum distance allowed around the interlocking UH is 1/2 of the letter "U" width away from any other text or graphic object as seen in the example.
Athletics Interlocking UH
The Athletics interlocking UH is to be used specifically for communications related to Athletics with prior approval.
Seal
The Official Seal of Arms of General Sam Houston, as handed down to him from noble ancestors. The simple Escutcheon in the center of the seal consists of checkered chevrons denoting nobility, and three Martlets, gentle Lowland birds symbolizing peace and deliverance. A winged hourglass is above the shield and surmounting this, the motto, “In Tempore” (In Time). Greyhounds were placed at the sides to indicate the speed in giving aid. The seal was adopted by UH in 1938 in conjunction with the construction of the campus.
As an official mark of the university, the use of the UH Seal is limited for use by the President’s Office and Provost’s Office. Doing so helps retain the seals’ integrity for very official “executive” communications and designated ceremonies, like commencement.
Athletics
Additional athletics symbols exist to support UH athletics. These logos are only to be used to communication pertaining specifically to the university’s athletic teams.
