University of Houston Ambassadors are premier student leaders that work within the Office of Admissions. Ambassadors are responsible for welcoming prospective students and guests to the University of Houston, as well as providing quality customer service to current students seeking assistance in the Welcome Center. The Ambassador program is a unique opportunity for student leaders to engage in on-campus employment while gaining transferable skills which enhance individual personal and professional goals. 2016 UH Ambassadors
Andre is a senior Pre-Pharmacy student majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry. His hometown is Houston, Texas. In his spare time, Andre enjoys acting, playing basketball and listening to music. He’s involved in the Ignite Leadership Program and is an Orientation Team Mentor. He chose the University of Houston because of its diversity and to excel in the Pharmacy program.
Anh is a sophomore pursuing a degree in Accounting. Her hometown is Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. She is a member of Beta Alpha Psi and the Metropolitan Volunteer Program. Her favorite UH memory is attending the football games. She chose the University of Houston for the quality education offered at the Bauer College of Business.
Ares is a sophomore obtaining a degree in Biotechnology. His hometown is Ivory Coast, West Africa. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and listening to music. He is a member of the Society for Biological Engineers. He chose the University of Houston because of the familial atmosphere, and he loves the color red, one of the official colors of UH.
Ashton is a sophomore pursuing a major in Kinesiology-Exercise Science. Her hometown is Anderson, Texas. After graduation, she plans to become an athletic trainer. Ashton’s favorite UH memory is going to Frontier Fiesta and getting a chance to be heard on the radio. She also works at the University Book Store and volunteers her time at the Athletic Department. She chose the University of Houston because it was close to home, and she wanted to continue her family’s legacy as a UH cougar.
Gabby is a sophomore obtaining a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Leadership Studies. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Gabby is also an Orientation Team Mentor and a Tailgate Ambassador for the Houston Texans. She enjoys singing, reading and watching Netflix. She chose the University of Houston because she loved UH’s welcoming atmosphere, it made her feel right at home.
Genesis is a senior majoring in History with a minor in Education. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. After graduation, she plans to attend law school. Her favorite UH traditions are the rubbing of the Cougar Paw and Cougar Red Fridays. Genesis enjoys reading, watching Netflix and hanging out with friends. Her favorite memory is being at the UH football game against Memphis. She chose the University of Houston because of its diversity and affordable education.
Holly is a junior majoring in Political Science with a minor in Journalism and World Cultures. Her hometown is Stuart, Florida. She is a member of The Honors College and is involved in Club Theater. In her spare time, Holly enjoys yoga and hanging out with friends. One of her favorite memories is when she was lost on campus, UH President Khator helped direct her to class. She chose the University of Houston because the Honors program was very welcoming, and she wanted a fresh start.
Jessica is a junior obtaining a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Her hometown is Kilgore, Texas. After graduation, she plans to work for a cruise line. Jessica enjoys working with prospective students and helping them learn more about the University. She chose the University of Houston because the Conrad N. Hilton College is one of the best in the nation. Because she is from a small town, she is excited to be at a diverse university.
JohnSteven is a sophomore majoring in American Sign Language Interpretation with a minor in Marketing. His hometown is San Antonio, Texas. He is a member of Christians at UH and the Intramural Volleyball Team. One of his favorite UH traditions is Frontier Fiesta. He chose the University of Houston to excel in the American Sign Language program.
Kayla is a sophomore obtaining a degree in Biotechnology. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. She enjoys sleeping and hanging out with friends. She is a member of the Nigerian Student Association and NAACP. She chose the University of Houston because it was close to home and for its affordable education.
Kathleen is a sophomore double majoring in Supply Chain Management and Marketing. Her hometown is Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is a member of Chi Omega Fraternity and enjoys exploring Houston and attending UH sporting events. Her favorite UH tradition is singing fight songs at the football games. Kathleen chose the University of Houston because of its business program and all of the opportunities that Houston provides.
Kelsey is a junior majoring in Human Resource Development with a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. She is an Orientation Team Leader and a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. Her favorite UH memory is the candlelight ceremony at New Student Orientation. She chose the University of Houston because her mother attended the University, and she never considered going anywhere else!
Najma is a junior majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Biology. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. She is a member of the Student Programs Board, and she enjoys taking naps and reading in her free time. Her favorite UH memory is being able to attend the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta to watch the UH football team bring home the dub and be a part of history in the making! She chose the University of Houston because it was close to home, and she loved the numerous career opportunities in the area.
Nekisha is a junior pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. She is a member of the Bauer Women’s Society. She enjoys going out to eat with friends and working out. Her favorite UH memory is catching the Memphis Tiger leg at a football game. She chose the University of Houston because of its diversity and all of the opportunities that the University has to offer.
Rooh is sophomore obtaining a degree in Business. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. She enjoys theater, dancing and watching pug videos. Rooh is also a YoungLife college leader and a Ignite Leadership Mentor. She chose the University of Houston because of the diversity and opportunities to learn about different cultures.
Suzette is a sophomore majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. She is also an Orientation Team Mentor and a member of the Spirit of Houston Marching Band. Her favorite UH memory is traveling to the Armed Forces Bowl with the football team. She chose the University of Houston because of the strong sense of community on campus.
Joey Ratcliff serves as Assistant Director of Prospective and New Student Programs at UH. His primary focus is coordinating Campus Visit and Orientation Programs, including Cougar Preview and Destination UH. He is originally from Brookhaven, Miss., and he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi. In addition to traveling the country and the world, he enjoys tennis, the Sunday New York Times and Starbucks.
