UH Ambassadors

University of Houston Ambassadors are premier student leaders that work within the Office of Admissions. Ambassadors are responsible for welcoming prospective students and guests to the University of Houston, as well as providing quality customer service to current students seeking assistance in the Welcome Center. The Ambassador program is a unique opportunity for student leaders to engage in on-campus employment while gaining transferable skills which enhance individual personal and professional goals. 2017 UH Ambassadors

Ares-Ayandokon

Ares is pursuing a degree in Biotechnology. His hometown is Adibijan, Ivory Coast. Ares enjoys watching TV and playing games. He is a member of the Society for Biological Engineers. He chose UH because it is affordable, and the UHin4 helps prevent tuition increases.

 

Ashley Flores

Ashley is pursuing a degree in Education. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Ashley enjoys swimming and watching Netflix. She is a member of the Metropolitan Volunteer Program. After graduation, Ashley plans to become an English teacher and shape the lives and many students.

 

Avi Shah Avi is pursuing a degree in Business. His hometown is Parsippany, New Jersey. Avi enjoys traveling and A Cappella. He is a member of the Indian Student Association and the Bauer Honors Student Advisory Board. Avi chose UH because as a non-Texas resident UH felt like “a home away from home.”

 

Berenice Espinoza

Berenice is pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Non-profit Leadership Alliance. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Berenice enjoys hiking and zip lining. She is a member of Ignite Leadership, Nonprofit Leadership Student Association and Young Life College. Berenice chose UH because it values progress and finds new ways to be innovative every year.

 

Brianne Bueno

Brianne is pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Marketing. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Brianne enjoys writing and swimming. She is a member of the El Gato Media Network. Brianne chose UH because of the Cougar Pride that is so popular and contagious in the city of Houston.

 

Carly Crispin

Carly is pursuing a degree in Anthropology. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Carly enjoys drawing and mountain biking. She is a member of the Spirit of Houston Marching Band, Cougars in Recovery and the Anthropology Society. After graduation, Carly plans to join the Peace Corps.

 

Christian Thurman

Christian is pursuing a degree in Education. Her hometown is Lake Charles, La. Christian enjoys exercising and eating ice cream. She is a member of Ignite Leadership. After graduation, Christian plans on relocating to Memphis to become a teacher and make a positive impact on students in the classroom.

 

Diana Sanchez

Diana is pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Her hometown is Conroe, Texas. Diana enjoys antique shopping and watching romantic comedies. She is a member of Kappa Delta Chi and the Urban Experience Program. Diana chose UH because she loves of the city of Houston and the speed at which the school continues to grow.

 

Ehimen Ekhuemelo

Ehimen, also known as Ehis, is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry. His hometown is Lagos, Nigeria. He enjoys playing basketball and watching soccer. Ehis is a member of the National Society for Black Engineers and the Nigerian Student Association. He chose UH because of his love for the city of Houston.

 

Emily Miller

Emily is pursuing a degree in Health with a double minor in Sociology and Law. Her hometown is Los Angeles, Calif. Emily enjoys traveling and leading Outdoor Adventure trips. She is chair of Student Employee Leadership Council, a Global Guide for Learning Abroad and a supervisor for Campus Wellness and Recreation Center. After graduation, Emily plans to pursue a master’s degree in Health Administration and eventually be employed with the CDC or World Health Organization.

 

Gabby Cabangon

Gabby is pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Leadership Studies. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Gabby enjoys singing and changing lives “one day at a time.” She is a member of Ignite Leadership and a Cub Camp counselor. After graduation, Gabby plans to attend graduate school to pursue a career in higher education.

 

Jackie Pena

Jackie is pursuing a degree in Psychology with a minor in Management. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Jackie enjoys gymnastics and watching Netflix. She is a member of Coog Club Gymnastics. Jackie chose UH because of the many opportunities it offers.

 

Janet Garcia

Janet is pursuing a degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Technology with a double minor in Purchasing and Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Janet enjoys biking and trying new restaurants throughout Houston. She is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Supply-Chain Industrial Distribution Organization. After graduation, Janet plans to become a supply chain analyst

 

JohnSteven Diaz

JohnSteven is pursuing a degree in American Sign Language with a minor in Marketing. His hometown is San Antonio, Texas. JohnSteven enjoys playing volleyball and dancing. He is a member of Christians at UH and the ASLI Club. After graduation, JohnSteven plans to become a certified ASL interpreter and manage his own interpreting agency.

 

Kate Mellie Ndenga

Kate is pursuing a degree in Finance. Her hometown is Kinshasa, Congo. Kate enjoys exploring and visiting museums. She is a member of the Investment Banking Scholars Club, Bauer Women’s Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Kate chose UH because of the quality education offered by the Bauer College of Business.

 

Kayla Franklin

Kayla is pursuing a degree in Biotechnology. Her hometown is Houston, Texas. Kayla enjoys hanging out with friends and playing volleyball. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Inc., Society of Biological Engineers and the Nigerian Student Association. After graduation, Kayla plans to be employed in her field and eventually attend pharmacy school.

 

Matthew Stell

Matthew is pursuing a degree in Communication with a minor in Political Science. His hometown is Rockwall, Texas. Matthew enjoys playing piano and watching college football. He is member of the Student Government Association, Center for Diversity and Inclusion, and CoogTV. After graduation, Matthew plans to pursue a career with a major American television network and eventually attend law school.

 

Nekisha Olaya

Nekisha is pursuing a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a minor in Business Foundations. Her hometown is Richmond, Texas. Nekisha enjoys writing and dancing. She is a member of Bauer Women’s Society and a Cub Camp counselor. After graduation, Nekisha plans on becoming an event planner and eventually establish a community service center.

 

Olawunmi Oladunjoye

Olawunmi, also known as Ola, is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. Her hometown is Lagos, Nigeria. She enjoys sleeping and eating delicious food. Ola is a member of the International Student Organization, Society of Women Engineers and the National Residency Hall Honorary. After graduation, Ola plans to attend graduate school and travel to every continent.

 

Shirin Khalili

Shirin is pursuing a degree in Biotechnology. Her hometown is Sugar Land, Texas. Shirin enjoys hanging out with friends and watching movies. She is a member of the Society of Biological Engineers. Shirin chose UH for its diverse and friendly community.

 

Terry Morris

Terry is pursuing a degree in Political Science with a minor in African American Studies. His hometown is Beaumont, Texas. Terry enjoys playing basketball and shopping online. He is a member of Ignite Leadership, Play for Keeps and a Cub Camp Counselor. After graduation, Terry plans to attend graduate school to pursue a career in student affairs.

 

TinaGrace Katshungu

TinaGrace is pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management. Her hometown is Kinshasa, Congo. TinaGrace enjoys cooking and swimming. She is a member of the International Students Organization. TinaGrace chose UH to continue thelegacy of her oldest sibling and hopefully inspire her younger brother to attend UH as well.

 

Victor Ejiasi

Victor is pursuing a degree in Nutritional Science. His hometown is Forney, Texas. Victor enjoys listening to music and fashion styling. He is a member of the NAACP, Collegiate 100 and the Nigerian Student Association. After graduation, Victor plans to attend dental school in Texas.

 

Joey Ratcliff

Joey Ratcliff is from Brookhaven, Miss., and serves as Interim Director of Prospective and New Student Programs at UH. His primary focus is coordinating Campus Visit and Orientation Programs, including Cougar Preview and various prospective student events. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi, and he is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Ethical Leadership here in Houston. When he has time he enjoys traveling the country and the world, playing tennis, reading the Sunday New York Times, and savoring Starbucks.
