      Complete the following in the Part 1 eWorkbook: p 5: Ex. 1a - 1p (pitch names) and p. 7: Ex. 1a, 1b, and 2a (intervals).

   Wednesday's assignment for Friday:
      Part 1 eWorkbook: p 8: Ex. 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b (intervals)
      POSTPONED: Complete the online quiz for Study Guide 1 with a score of 90% or better

            Wednesday's assignment for Friday: Anthology, page 18 (or other as assigned by instructor). Photocopy the page first, then write in harmonic analysis for both Scheidt and Schumann examples.

            Monday, Oct 6: Assignment for Wednesday: Textbook, p. 60, Ex. 4 (three figured basses: realize each in four parts.)
                  Also study Ch 7 on Cadences.

            Wednesday: Begin Ch 8, Cadential tonic six-four chord. Assignment for Friday: Anthology assignment: page 23 (Beethoven & Schubert). Analyze harmony and cadences. Also, Study Ch 8: Cadential Tonic Six-Four.

            Friday's assignment for Monday: E-Workbook, page 24 (all).

                  Also study Ch 8 on the cadential tonic six-four chord.

           Wednesday: Turn in Practice Exam II. Written assignment for Friday: E-Workbook, p. 25. From the six examples (a-f) choose 4.

           Friday: Discuss Practice Exam II. Assignment for Monday: Textbook, p. 75, Ex. 3. From the four given melodies (a-d), choose two. Study through Part II, Unit 8 for Exam.

Week 9 (oct 20-24)

   Theory:

Wednesday: Continue review through Unit 8 and Anthology examples with tonic 6/4.
         Assignment for Friday: Review for exam

Friday, Oct 24: Exam II (Part II, Units 1-8)

   Aural Skills:

Tuesday, Oct 21: Dictation Midterm (intervals, scales, melodic, harmonic through page 102) No new assignments.

Thursday, Oct 23: Singing Midterm (by appointment. Solo melodies through page 60.)


Week 10 (oct 27-31)

Chapters 8-9 study examples:

   Cadential Tonic Six-Four Chord

   First Inversion Chord Voicings

   Non-Chord Tones
 

Theory: Discuss Chapter 9 (triads in first inversion). Also begin Chapter 10 (the supertonic triad).

Monday. Return and go over the theory exam. Discuss first inversion chords.

     Anthology: prepare analysis of pages 27-30 for in-class discussion.
