Frequently Asked Questions for Stats 3401
??????

Q#1: On the first exam, some of the problems had large data sets and required
lengthy computations.  What can I do feel more corfortable and better prepared?

A#1a.  Use your calculator on the homework; even if the problems are relatively
simple.        The key is practice using your calculator and to become
familar with how it works.

A#1b.  There are ways to check yourself along the way. Instead of stopping and
recalculating your data numerous times; calculate the figures (i.e.,sum of
squares)     twice, then proceed to the next part of the problem.  This will
help you to get the     exam more quickly and allow you time to double check
your work.

A#1c. Take some time out and rework the first exam (posted on website:
assignm'ts & Exams     section) on paper with your calculator and on a
spreadsheet.  This will provide more    practice and help you to prepare for
Exam II.

A#1d. Re-work homework problems in relationship to the areas of the exam were
you had       problems.  The more you work and re-work problems the easier
it will be recall them     for the next exam.

A#1e. Is you have specific questions let your group leader know or email Frank
at    Flarkey@uh.edu.
