New Faculty Orientation
Welcome to the University of Houston!
The Office of the Provost hosts the New Faculty Orientation (NFO) at the beginning of the academic year, in August. NFO includes required and optional events that will introduce you to your new community. Day 1 of New Faculty Orientation is a mandatory, in-person session from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Orientation Information
Day 1 – New Faculty Orientation (Mandatory Attendance)
New Faculty Orientation (NFO) will provide you with critical information and advice on tapping into resources to support teaching and research, guidance on promotion and tenure, and introduction to key UH administrators and departments. The NFO Day consists of presentations from divisional leaders.
Day 2 – Human Resources and Faculty Instructional Support (Optional Attendance)
The Office of Faculty Engagement and Development (FED) has coordinated optional training and informational opportunities, which will include overviews of faculty benefits and instructional resources. Human Resources will provide a "Be Benefits Wise" session regarding faculty benefits. The Office of Faculty and Departmental Instructional Support (FDIS) will provide information on the latest instructional design and educational technology resources available to help you prepare for teaching your classes.
Day 3 – Training and Social Mingle
Coogs Care (Mandatory Attendance)
The Office of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will conduct mandatory QPR training. QPR is a nationally recognized suicide prevention program designed to educate persons to recognize and respond to the signs of suicidal thinking or behavior. The training is 1.5 hours and is offered both in-person and virtually. Please sign-up for CAPS training.
New Faculty Social Mingle (Optional Attendance)
The FED will host a social hour with free bagels, coffee, and tea available to all new faculty members in the Faculty Cafe. The Faculty Cafe is a collaboration and professional development space for faculty and postdoctoral fellows. The Faculty Cafe is located in the E. Cullen Building, Ground Floor, Suite 31.

Please register as soon as you electronically sign your offer letter in Taleo.
What is the registration deadline?
Registration deadline is the week before New Faculty Orientation.
