My Fellow Cougars –



To our many returning students, we’re delighted you’re back!  And to our new members of the Cougar family, let me personally welcome you to the University of Houston!

When I visited several classes last week, I noticed that some students were not decked out in Cougar RED on Friday.  I am told that some of you are not aware of the Cougar Red Friday tradition!

Cougar Red Friday is a celebration of all things Cougar – from our current Tier One achievements to our legacy of providing quality higher education to some of the best and brightest students in the nation.  Wearing red on Fridays says Go Coogs!  It salutes academic distinction. It applauds research innovation. It acknowledges how proud we are to be a part of everything this university has accomplished and we show our own commitment to continue on that path to excellence.



Whether you are here on campus or working downtown, help us Keep Houston RED! Nothing would make me happier than seeing red all around our campus and our city tomorrow. I hope you will join me in this display of our pride and our pleasure in being Cougars.
