Airports and Transportation

ISSSO will be partnering with on-campus organizations to provide airport pick-up from July 24th, 2024 to August 19th, 2024 to incoming international students.

Please note that the airport pickup service is volunteer-based. To give our staff and volunteers adequate time to accommodate your request, sign up at least 24 business hours prior to your flight landing. If you don't hear from a volunteer within 24 hours of your flight's arrival, please arrange an alternative service (e.g., Uber, Lyft).

Please fill out our form and we will notify you if there is someone available to pick you up.

Houston has two airports, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and William P. Hobby. You can secure transportation by using SuperShuttle. You do not need a reservation upon arrival at the airport, but you will need a reservation for your departure from the University back to either airport. SuperShuttle is an on-demand, 24 hours, 7 days a week service. When you arrive at either airport (George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU), proceed to the ticket counter located in the baggage claim area of the terminal.

Arriving at George Bush Intercontinental Airport

  • You can travel by taxi from the airport directly to the university from Intercontinental for about $50. Ask the driver about the fare before leaving the airport. Taxi fare is more expensive than the airport bus fare. There are three UH campuses in the greater Houston area, so be sure to tell the taxi driver that the address of the University of Houston is 4800 Calhoun Road. It is customary to tip the driver at least 15% of your fare.

Arriving at William. P. Hobby Airport

  • If you arrive at Houston's Hobby Airport, you will be closer to the university. The taxi service is located in the airport's ground transportation area. The taxi fare from Hobby Airport is approximately $30. It is customary to tip the driver at least 15 percent of your fare.

Group Arrivals

Guests arriving in groups of 3 or more on the same flight are able to book an Exclusive van from either airport for around $70 per van, per direction. Please note, if traveling to a hotel or different residence the price may vary.
