Registering for the Placement Test

 MPT GUIDE LINK TEST

Q. How can I register for and take a math placement exam?

A. If you don't have an account, create one by registering at the CASA Registration Page. Then log in to your account and choose 'Math Placement' from the 'Course Listing' section.

Within the 'Math Placement' section you will have access to practice exams, as well as topic-by-topic videos and quizzes to help you prepare for the placement exams.

When you’re ready to take the test, select 'Online Placement Exams' and follow the instructions provided.

Q. I scored below 80% on the MATH 1431 (Calculus I) placement test. How can I qualify for a second attempt?

A. In order to qualify for a second attempt at the MATH 1431 placement test, you must complete the practice test (“Practice Placement Into MATH 1431”) with a score of 80% or above. Keep in mind that you have unlimited attempts at the practice test. Once this requirement is met, then within 24 hours, an additional attempt at the MATH 1431 placement test will automatically be added to your account.

If you have already completed the practice test with a score of 80% or above, then you do not have to complete the practice test again, but still allow up to 24 hours for a second placement test attempt to be added to your account.

Q. I get the following message when trying to register: "Unable to find your record in Class Roster sent to us by University. Please try to register again tomorrow morning as we receive the updated Class Rosters every night."

What should I do?

A. When entering your First Name and Last Name, make sure that these entries match the way your name was recorded on your application. Sometimes switching the First and Last Name entries, or entering an alternate First or Last Name (such as a nickname, or including your middle name) can resolve the issue. If the same error persists for more than 24 hours please send an email to courseware@uh.edu with the subject line “Unable to register for the math placement test.” In your email, please include the following information:
