The University of Houston community will come together to pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida. At noon, June 15, UH will host a vigil in the campus’ A.D. Bruce Religion Center. This event is being coordinated by the LGTBQ Resource Center, the A.D. Bruce Religion Center, Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Equal Opportunity Services and Campus Ministries Association.

The event will feature music, prayer and reflection to honor those who were killed at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub. The names of the 49 victims will be read during this event.

Immediately following the vigil, faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a discussion about the impact this tragedy has had on the community at 1 p.m. in UH’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion (Student Center South, Suite B12). The conversation will be led by Niya Blair, director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, and Lorraine Schroeder, program director of the LGTBQ Resource Center.
