Welcome from UH President Khator

President Renu Khator welcomes all new and incoming students to campus with information on how to make this semester legendary. Weeks of Welcome

Whether you are a new or returning Coog, the University of Houston wants to give you a warm welcome! During the Weeks of Welcome, numerous departments put on lots of FREE events for students to have fun, learn about the university, and get lots of freebies. This is a perfect time to make new friends and find your place at UH. See our Signature Events and Full Schedule below! Download your Event Pass ahead of time to ensure a smooth check-in process for all WOW events.

Weeks of Welcome Speed Friending

If you’re looking to make a new friend or two on campus this semester, join us for Speed Friending. It’s like Speed Dating just without the awkward need to seem romantic. Join us for snacks, games, music, and fun questions to help you get to know your fellow Coogs!

Diamond Emergency Fund 

The Center for Student Empowerment would like to remind students that there is emergency funding available from The Diamond Emergency Fund. This fund was created to provide funds for emergency financial needs to current full-time students who have spent time in the foster care system, are orphaned or are a ward of the state. Bring Your Cougar Card to Enter MD Anderson Library

Your Cougar Card is the easiest, fastest way to access the MD Anderson Library! All University of Houston students, faculty, and staff are required to use your physical Cougar Card for entry to the MD Anderson Library through the security turnstiles. Swipe in or tap the proximity card sensor. Click here for more information.

CougarCon

CougarCon is back! Play in the e-sports tournament, walk down Artist Alley, compete in the Cosplay Contest, and get ready to win big with thrilling raffles! CougarCon is a convention at UH featuring anime, cosplay, board game and video game stations, and various student vendors! Don’t miss out on FREE food and an e-sports tournament hosted by Coog E-sports - the UH gaming student organization. Click here for more information.

The Horticulture Society General Meeting

Come to our introductory meeting to learn about the organization and the greenhouse! This event is presented by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Click here for more information.

Commuter Cookout 

Calling all commuter students! Dive into our Commuter Cook-Out event, co-hosted by the Student Program Board and the Dean of Students. Join us for free food, raffles, and bingo. The highlight: we're raffling a FREE paid zone parking spot! Screening of The Little Mermaid (Live Action). Click here for more information.

Behind the Badge

Join us for Behind the Badge, a community engagement event that allows the campus community the opportunity to meet and talk with local law enforcement.  This event is presented by the Office of Administration. Click here for more information.

Sunrise & Sunset Yoga

Flow into your day with this 45 minute, all levels, outdoor yoga session. Allow yourself to be present as you take in the sights and sounds of our beautiful campus. No experience necessary. A limited number of mats will be available. Click here for more information. 

Date: Wednesday, August 30th, session 1 begins at 7 a.m., and session 2 begins at 7 p.m. in the Cullen Family Plaza.

Rec Fest

Join us for our biannual Rec Fest! Thursday presented by Campus Recreation. Get your FREE T-shirt and giveaways, try out demos, enjoy inflatable activities, groove to music, connect with sport clubs and more! Click here for more information.

Healthy Tailgate

Family Weekend

Hey Coogs, come spend the weekend with your family or friends. You can enjoy delicious food and learn about the services we provide. Additionally, you can attend a variety of events for the whole family, including a Friday Fish Fry, Movie Night (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), Saturday football game & pre-game tailgate, educational sessions and meet & greets with academic and student affairs departments, and much more! Click here to register before September 1st, and click here for more info.
