Reading peer-reviewed scientific articles can be challenging when you're just getting started. The Journal Club on the Biological Sciences is designed to give students the opportunity to read, evaluate, and discuss peer-reviewed articles.
Students can take advantage of this risk-free environment and join the conversation. Simply read the article in advance, and bring any questions or comments you have on the paper to the meeting. The students who chose the paper will present it to the group, and then we will discuss it.
The theme for Fall 2021 is SARS-CoV-2 - Viral genome and particle structure. We will not be discussing Covid-19, the disease caused by this virus. Rather, we will focus on the genome of the virus, the structure of the viral capsid and coat proteins, and the mutations that lead to different coat proteins in the variants.
The Journal Club has a public Team on Microsoft Teams called "Journal Club on the Biological Sciences." The first meeting of Fall 2021 will be in Room 212L of the MD Anderson Library.
