Juan M. Madera is the Curtis L. Carlson Endowed Professor at the Conrad N. Hilton
College of Global Hospitality Leadership, University of Houston (UH). His is research
interest includes personnel issues in the workplace. He has authored more than 90
peer-reviewed journal articles, popular press articles, and book chapters. He is the
recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, including from the NSF, USDA-NIFA, Sloan
Foundation, and the Ford Foundation. Dr. Madera is Fellow for the Society of Industrial/Organizational
Psychology and serves as an Associate Editor and editorial board member of numerous
peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Journal of Business and Psychology, Personnel Assessment
and Decisions, and International Journal of Hospitality Management). He also serves
as a research fellow for the Center for Advancement UH Faculty Success where he is
involved in both research and policy work for the promotion and tenure process. Dr.
Madera received a doctoral degree in Industrial - Organizational Psychology from Rice
University.
