Introducing Veronica Vazquez!

Ask Veronica Vazquez about Cougar Pride, and she’ll tell you it’s a huge part of why students love being part of Hilton College and the University of Houston. In fact, our new alumni/development coordinator is a proud Cougar herself, having graduated from Bauer College this past December.

In her new role, Veronica will work to build relationships with Hilton College alumni – “Forever Coogs” who are happy to give of their time, talent and treasure.

“Our department is not just seeking donors, but also engaged alumni who wish to create bigger and better opportunities for our students,” she said. “Whether it’s through mentorships, recruiting at a high school college fair or serving on the alumni board, recent and older graduates can always find a way back to Hilton College. My job is to open doors of opportunity and to help them remember the way.”

A month into her job, Veronica has already met with members of both the Hilton College Alumni Board and the University of Houston Alumni Association. She attended her first alumni mixer at the Hyatt Regency/Houston Galleria on June 14, and she’s also working on revamping the College’s mentorship program – among other initiatives.

As someone who found her way back to UH just a few months after graduation, Veronica is ready for a job that involves cultivating Cougar Pride and building a culture of connectivity among Hilton College alumni. She is passionate, energetic and bleeds Cougar Red.

“I want to show students and graduates that there will always be a place for them here,” she said. “When I heard about this position, I immediately applied. UH has a very special place in my heart and getting this job feels like coming home.”

With such an impressive start in her new position, Veronica will be an honorary Hilton College alumna in no time!
