International Education Week
IEW 2024 - November 18 - 22, 2024
International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.
The purpose of IEW is to promote the benefits of international education and cultural exchange. IEW is celebrated across the United States on an annual basis during the third week of November.
At the University of Houston, IEW is an opportunity to showcase the various global programs and international opportunities as well as celebrate our cultural diversity
The centerpiece of IEW is GlobalFest!, a global engagement resource fair, to be held on Wednesday Nov. 20 11:30-1:00pm in the Student Center Plaza. The rain location is the Houston Room.
- This main event includes cultural performances, international snacks, tabling by campus groups with a global focus, and the chance to win gift cards playing Passport Bingo!
- T-Shirt Design Contest: This exciting competition invites designers from all corners of the world to showcase their unique artistic visions on a canvas we all wear—T-shirts! Submission deadline: November 21, 2024. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/IEWCompetitions
- Learning Abroad Instagram photo contest: Submit your global photo in one of these categories: Culture and Society, Landscape/Cityscape and Cougar Pride. Top three winners win an Amazon gift card and social media exposure for their photo.
- ISSSO Video Submission: International students and scholars are encouraged to submit a short video celebrating the impact of global perspectives and multicultural experiences on their collegiate experience at UH. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/IEWCompetitions
