Piracy and the Spanish Empire in the Pacific

We welcome to the Rockwell Pavilion of the M.D. Anderson Library on October 2, 2024 at 12:00 PM Dr. Kristie Flannery of Australian Catholic University.
Dr. Flannery will deliver a lecture, “Piracy and the Spanish Empire in the Pacific,” based on her recent book, which explores the role of anti-piracy in the longevity of the Spanish presence in the Philippines. Nine Abad will lead the discussion and refreshments will be served.
This public event is free, thanks to the support of the Department of History, the National Endowment for the Humanities-Cullen Chair in History & Business, the Asian American Studies Center, the Arab-American Educational Foundation Center for Arab Studies, and the Program in Latin American Studies.
