Meet the Executive Board
The Energy Coalition is led by a team of student board members who drive everything from big-picture strategy to day-to-day operations. These leaders represent a wide range of majors and backgrounds, but they share one mission: to connect students, elevate energy education, and create real-world opportunities across the industry.
What Board Members Do
Board members take on high-impact leadership roles that shape the direction and success of the Coalition. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing major events like Energy Night, site visits, and professional workshops.
- Leading committees focused on outreach, communications, partnerships, operations, and development.
- Collaborating with industry professionals, UH faculty, and campus partners.
- Supporting student volunteers and engaging the broader UH community.
- Representing EC at conferences, panels, and university-wide initiatives.
Serving on the board gives students hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, project management, and energy sector engagement.
How Board Members Are Selected
Board applications typically open each semester, depending on current needs and available roles. Students who apply go through an interview process with the current board to ensure alignment with EC’s mission, culture, and expectations.
Any University of Houston student with a passion for energy, leadership, and collaboration is welcome to apply — whether they’ve volunteered before or are just getting involved. We look for applicants who are:
- Motivated to help grow and shape the Energy Coalition.
- Team-oriented and dependable.
- Excited to lead, plan events, and represent EC across campus and industry spaces.
New board members are onboarded and supported by existing leadership to ensure a smooth and effective transition into their roles.
