University of Houston Welcomes Dr. Paul Kittle as Vice Chancellor/Vice President for Student Affairs - University of Houston

The University of Houston (UH) announced the appointment of Dr. Paul Kittle as the Vice Chancellor/Vice President for Student Affairs after a nationwide search. As indicated in UH Today, University of Houston System Chancellor Renu Khator said, “He will provide leadership, strategic vision, organization, and administrative oversight for the UH Division of Student Affairs and general oversight for student affairs across the UH System, which serves more than 75,000 students.”

With an impressive background spanning over twenty-nine years in higher education, Dr. Kittle has demonstrated his commitment to fostering vibrant campus life and holistic learning environments. His expertise covers a diverse range of areas, including accessibility services, budget management, critical incident response, fraternity/sorority life, student engagement, and Title IX compliance.

Dr. Kittle most recently served as the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington and provided vision and leadership for 11 departments. His responsibilities included overseeing student involvement and engagement, residence life, international education, fraternity and sorority life, career development, and experiential education. Dr. Kittle's role on the senior leadership team involved spearheading various committees and initiatives, implementing assessment plans, and creating policies and programs to enhance the student experience.

Dr. Kittle's dedication to the field is evident through his involvement in professional organizations such as the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and his role as an accreditation team member. He also serves on the Educational Foundation for Phi Mu Delta fraternity and chairs the Assessment Committee for the NASPA Region III Summer Symposium planning committee.

A seasoned higher education professional, Dr. Kittle's previous roles include positions at High Point University, Auburn University, Clemson University, and Saint Francis University. He holds a bachelor's and master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management from PennWest California (formerly known as California University of PA). Dr. Kittle earned his doctorate in administration of higher education from Auburn University.

Upon his appointment, Dr. Kittle expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Houston community. He remarked, "In partnership with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and our greater Houston community, I am excited to see how we will continue elevating the student experience to new heights as UH pursues the goal to become a top 50 public university."
